About

Nicola Newton is a Los Angeles-based cinematographer and camera operator. She is the Director of Photography for Chris Leary's Hometown Dan, in addition to numerous independent short films, music videos, and web projects.

 

Outside of Box Party Films, Nicola works as a camera operator with commercial clients including Buzzfeed, YouTube, and Dreamworks TV, in addition to camera assisting on three feature-length films in 2017.

Nicola also pursues screenwriting and photography, and is passionate about engaging audiences in visceral and thrilling ways, often with longtime collaborator and fellow Box Party filmmaker Jake Hammond. 

 

She graduated with a BFA from Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts in 2015 with an emphasis in Cinematography. Her most recent work includes photography on two short films directed by fellow alumni Hammond (April and the Devil) and Christian Meola (Wild Nights), both set to be festival-bound in 2018.
